Giving up coffee: Attempt number 10 to the nth power

For me, giving up coffee is going to be harder than getting off heroin is for a junky. Not that I would know, since I've never done smack, but my love for lattes is bordering on obsession. I didn't have a cup yesterday, since I was sick (seeck!) and I was trying to be healthy in order to recover in time for Halloween. All I could think about was walking to Ristretto's to get a coffee....ALL DAY LONG. Then, this morning, I woke up in a crazy good mood (this is what happens when I give up coffee, I feel freaking fantastic and more creative and balanced) but it was a huge struggle to not make coffee/buy a latte. Seriously, I can see Ristretto's from my studio. It calls to me. It's strange, I was never a coffee drinker until I was like 25, I didn't really drink it while I lived in Hawaii. I think it was the snow storm of 2004 (my first year back in Oregon) that drove me into the warm and stimulating arms of a chocolate latte from Full City (Full City! Portland awaits your first shop! Please, please, please move up here! No one makes a mocha/chocolate latte like you. The ganache! The ganache!).

I really would like to not be chemically dependent. I would, truly. But I don't hold out much hope for this attempt. These are my mobile uploads to facebook:

Who takes pictures of their coffee? Me. That's who. I loooooooove it.

Screaming Monkey

Empty bowl of pho....

I was so out of sorts on Monday (?) that I had to go and eat a bowl of pho at like 3 in the afternoon. It cured me, though, so that's good.

Video Extravaganza

On another note:

I can make horrible faces. REALLY horrible. Don't believe me?

It's sort of a hobby of mine. My sister makes pretty good bad faces too:

She is normally beautiful. Like this:

What am I excited about? My new (to me) couch! See below.

What am I not excited about?

Dropping my air conditioner out the window.

Breaking my bedroom window in the process.

And this speaks for itself. Stupid bike.

A Little Bit of This and That

Ahh, finally a little peace and quiet!

Little Dieter Boo Boo is growing up! He gets snipped this Friday, poor little man.

My new favorite food. Ethiopian.

Gunter Injury Update

He's doing much better, thank you. Seems to be right as rain, judging from the madness that ensued this morning with Dieter. Rapid racing and wrangling all up and down my new apartment. I really hope my neighbor downstairs can't hear all the clicking on the wood floors.

A video tour of my new space (that I made for my older sister, pretty pretty pincess one).

Kix and Pugs don't mix

So, Gunter got bit at the dog park today. I heard a little wrangling and when I looked up, poor Gunter was on his way to me, looking confused, as he always does when something is wrong. Then I noticed the blood coming out of his mouth and staining his little velvet muzzle. This stupid dog, that looked like a very small pit bull (probably a pit bull mix), had bitten him right on his mouth because Gunter has strayed too near this stupid dog's ball. Gunter doesn't have any interest in tennis balls, he was probably only over there because Dieter was sniffing around (thank goodness he didn't bite Dieter!). And then! This stupid dog's stupid douche bag of an owner got an attitude with me. First he was like "oh my dog is really protective of his toy" and then he was like "oh, my dog is never like this", when I had said "well, maybe you shouldn't bring an aggressive dog to the dog park", and then he had the temerity to say to me (asshole!) "oh, ok, I guess I could just walk away shaking my head too" as I walked away (shaking my head). I just know he would never have taken that tone with a guy. But this stupid douche was a gee-dee coward and decided he could use that tone with me, a woman. So I turned around and said "your dog just mauled my dog!". I wish I had popped him right in his mealy mouthed, chinless face instead. Really.

The joy of having a puppy

I came home the other day to discover the Littlest Pug had escaped from the kitchen. He had spent his day merrily pulling all of my yarn out of a bag in the closet (I don't know how he found it) and strewing it around the house. A shoe was destroyed. And the coup de grĂ¢ce.....

My Saturday Morning

Shepherding two pugs while trying to drink a cup of delicious stumptown wasn't my best idea ever. But it was fun.

New Apartment!

Well, it's pretty much a done deal. Unless one of my references slips up and tells the landlady the truth about me. You know, wild parties, random men, loud music at all hours, that sort of thing.

So excited! It's super cute, not too small. Nice living room, neat refurbished kitchen with nook, and a fun bathroom and little bedroom. Can't wait! Hard wood floors.

Pugs+Water=Hilarity

And we discovered that Gunter can swim without a life jacket, and pretty well too. Who knew?
